The Scalp

Today I took a bus (No. 44) to go towards a scenic place called, "Wicklow". Near there, I went hiking up a place called, "The Scalp". There were supposed to be some good boulders there, but I had trouble finding them.
*The bus accidentally missed my stop, so I had to back track on this road. It's kind of scenic, to me.

* I found some mountain goats.

Goats were a little sketched out by me.

Since I have blog, I might as well try to "deck it out" as much as possible. So, here are some really old videos of me.

Yours truly,

Almost in the Flow

It's been a week since I've arrived in Ireland and since then, I have:

1) Been lost in the city eight times (including two dark nights)
2) Watched a whole season of Dexter (thank you, Abdul)
3) Convinced myself that Europeans can identify my American heritage by watching me
walk on the wrong side of the sidewalk.
4) Collected my Student ID Card, Travel Card (need those busses), and my GARDA immigration card (took me 4 hours to get that one).
5) Eaten apples, carrots, cereal, yogurt, beans, and really old rice.
6) Bought a membership to the UCD gym. Now I can train, socialize, and hopefully get strong enough to take a climbing trip. psyched!
7) cleaned the kitchen, which lead to 'Mr. Muscle' cleaner permeating the whole apartment.
8) Went out to a pub and argued about colleges, soccer, and football with a random dude named, Alex. I know nothing about these subjects, but I feel like I took the victory (in your face, Alejandro!) .
9) Engineered a sweet curtain/tent in my bathroom so my shower doesn't spray all over my sink and toilet. If I ever have money to buy a house, it's going to have a bathroom big enough for a beluga whale to swim in.
10) Kindly said, "No", to a tipsy stranger who asked if I wanted to party on a Monday night.
In retrospect, blogging on a Monday night is probably not any better than moving and talking.....it was a judgement call.
11) Day dreamed....a lot
12) Shopped at a pharmacy called, "Hickeys".
13) Slept in my bed with a down jacket and two pairs of wool socks on.
14) Been planning for my first trip. There are people going to Belfast, but I need to look at my options.
15) Really enjoyed the weather! Yeah, it's like 40 degrees and sunny. Hopefully I'll get around to taking some pictures.

bye folks....

Starting Off.....

Today I started off my, "Euro Trip", with arriving at the airport three hours early. After I set out to check my bags, I noticed that one of them was missing (at this time, I have been on my own for about 20 seconds). Luckily, someone told me that the bus driver put my bag back on the shuttle because he assumed it belonged to someone besides the person it was next to. Thank you, nice guy/ person, for giving me the shuttle bus number and allowing me to retrieve my bag. Phew!

My third misfortune was a result of me not weighing my two luggage bags before I arrived at the airport. The weight limit for a bag is 50 lb. It is 175 dollars for bags that weigh between 50-70 lb. and 300 dollars for bags that weigh above 70 lb. I had bags that weighed 78 lb. and 40 lb.

*son of a motherless goat*

I quickly adjusted the weight of the two bags along the curve (looking as though the world was about to end, due to my sloppy packing) to 68 lb. and 40 lb. and stuffed the all the extra weight down my carry on backpack, because the lighter suitcase was too small and would not fit.

*balls....*

Note to self: throw away clothes when coming back. It will be worth way less than paying 200 bucks for a weight fee.

It was kind of awkward getting on the plane with a backpack that came up to my torso. I just kept my eyes down and pretended I was invisible. "At a way, ben!"

Right now, I'm killing a lot of time before my next flight leaves (I'm in New York) and I was fortunate enough to find free wifi.

* World: 3 Ben: 1 *

I'm sure I'll have a more successful trip in the future because I am physically stronger (from carrying my heavy backpack), mentally prepped for any misfortune that will most likely happen to me, and....kinda broke (stupid weight fee....).
